How to Cancel My GemX Subscription

This guide walks you through how to cancel your subscription and clearly explains what happens after cancellation, including billing, usage fees, and experiment status.

Important note: This article covers subscription cancellation only. It does not include app uninstallation or data deletion.

What You Should Know Before Canceling

Before canceling your GemX subscription, keep the following in mind:

  • GemX subscriptions are managed through Shopify App Store billing

  • Cancellation does not take effect immediately

  • You will not be charged for future billing periods

  • GemX does not provide refunds or credits for unused time in the current billing cycle

In short, you can cancel at any time, but your subscription will remain active until the end of the current billing cycle.

How to Cancel Your GemX Subscription

You can cancel your GemX subscription directly from your Shopify admin, no support request is required.

Follow these instructions to cancel your GemX subscription safely

Step 1: Access your Shopify Admin.

Step 2: Navigate to SettingsApps and sales channels.

Step 3: Select GemX and click Cancel subscription.

Step 4: Confirm the cancellation.

Once confirmed, your subscription will be marked as canceled and scheduled to end at the conclusion of the current billing cycle.

When Does the Cancellation Take Effect?

Canceling your GemX subscription does not stop the service immediately.

  • Your subscription remains active until the end of the current billing cycle

  • You can continue accessing GemX features during this period

  • No new subscription charges will be created for the next cycle

This behavior follows Shopify’s standard billing model for app subscriptions.

What Happens After You Cancel GemX

After canceling your subscription, several changes occur across experiments, access, and billing.

Testing campaigns activity

Please be aware that after your cancellation, all your testing campaigns will be affected:

  • All running experiments will be stopped

  • No new traffic will be split between variants

  • GemX will stop collecting new experiment data

Any changes made by winning variants will not be automatically applied unless you had already finalized them before cancellation.

Access to GemX

  • You can continue accessing the GemX dashboard until the billing cycle ends

  • After the subscription expires, access to paid features will be disabled

  • You can resubscribe at any time if you want to resume using GemX

Canceled subscriptions do not automatically resume previous experiments if you re-subscribe later.

Your Billing After Cancellation

Billing behavior after cancellation follows Shopify’s billing rules and GemX pricing logic.

Subscription fees

  • Your current subscription fee remains valid until the end of the billing cycle

  • You will not be charged any new subscription fees after that

  • Unused time in the current cycle is not refundable

Usage fees

GemX usage fees are calculated separately from subscription fees and follow these rules:

  • Usage fees apply only after your store’s revenue reaches $20,000 within a calendar month

  • Fees are calculated based on actual daily usage

  • The calculation window follows the calendar month, not the billing cycle

  • Usage fees are charged at the end of the current billing cycle

Important note: The usage fee is only applied for users subscribed to the Funnel Optimize plan and whose monthly store revenue reached $20K.

If you cancel your subscription mid-month:

  • Usage fees are calculated from the day your store reaches the $20,000 threshold

  • Fees are prorated based on actual usage days within that month

  • The final usage fee (if applicable) will still be charged at the end of the billing cycle

Canceling your subscription does not retroactively remove usage fees that have already accrued.

Refunds and Credits

GemX does not offer refunds or credits for any portion of the billing period remaining at the time of cancellation.

This includes:

  • Unused subscription time

  • Unused features or services

  • Partial usage within a billing cycle

Refunds or credits are only provided if required by applicable law.

Can I Resubscribe to the GemX Plan Later

Yes. You can resubscribe to GemX at any time from the Shopify App Store or from GemX in-app.

If you re-subscribe:

  • You regain access to the GemX dashboard and features

  • Previous experiments will not automatically resume

  • New experiments must be created manually

Please note that re-subscribing does not restore stopped experiments by default.

Does canceling my subscription uninstall the GemX app?
No. Canceling your GemX subscription only stops future billing and access to paid features after the current billing cycle ends. The GemX app will remain installed in your Shopify store unless you manually uninstall it.
Will I be charged again after canceling my subscription?
No. Once you cancel, GemX will not create new subscription charges for future billing periods. However, charges related to the current billing cycle, including applicable usage fees, may still be processed according to Shopify billing rules.
What happens if I cancel in the middle of a billing cycle?
Your subscription stays active until the end of the current billing cycle, and you can continue using GemX during that time. GemX does not provide refunds or credits for any unused portion of the billing period.
How are usage fees handled after cancellation?
Usage fees are calculated based on actual usage within the calendar month, starting from the day your store reaches the $20,000 revenue threshold. If applicable, the final usage fee may still be charged at the end of the current billing cycle, even if you cancel before that cycle ends.
Do I need to contact GemX support to cancel my subscription?
No. You can cancel your GemX subscription directly from your Shopify admin without contacting support. The cancellation process is fully self-serve through Shopify’s App Store billing interface.
Can I re-subscribe to GemX after canceling?
Yes. You can re-subscribe to GemX at any time through the Shopify App Store. After re-subscribing, you will regain access to GemX features, but any previously stopped experiments will not automatically resume.
